Armenia’s Ombudsman holds working Meeting with Human Rights Watch Representatives

According to the stuff of the Human Rights Defender, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan held a meeting with Human Rights Watch representatives – Associate Director of the Europe and Central Asia Division Jane Buchanan, Director for South Caucasus Giorgio Gogia and Board member Catherine Zenstrom.

During the meeting, the guests familiarized the Armenian Ombudsman with the results, issues and concerns of the research carried out in Armenia’s institutions dealing with child care and protection, as well as in general educational institutions in 2016.

In his turn, Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan thanked the guests for their work and attached importance to the steps taken in the field of the protection of the children’s rights.

According to the new law on Armenia’s Human Rights Defender, the Ombudsman implements prevention of the violations of children rights, as well as protection of those rights. Arman Tatoyan also talked about the upcoming programs, the cooperation with international and local organizations, and the creation of respective department in the field of the protection of children rights.

At the end of the meeting Arman Tatoyan expressed readiness to further strengthen the ongoing cooperation in the sphere of protection the children’s rights.
