According to the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabakh, from the night of 22 and to the morning of 23 January, Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire regime in directions of the line of contact more then 55 times, during which the enemy fired about 430 shots from different caliber weapons towards Armenian positions. In the eastern position of the line of contact, the Azerbaijan Armed Forces fired more intensive shots from sniper rifles (92 shots), as well as fired 82 mm mortar (2 shells).
As a result of the ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijan side, on January 22, as of 23:25, the NKR Defense Army solder Karen M. Ulubabyan, born in 1995, was fatally wounded at one of the military units located in the eastern direction of the Defense Army.
Investigation is underway to clarify the details of the case.
The NKR Defense Army shares the grief of the loss and expresses its support to the family members, relatives and co-servicemen of the killed solder.
The Defense Army forces took countermeasures to suppress the Azerbaijan activities and continued carrying out their military service.
