In the morning on 29 December, “Azerbaijan forces made a sabotage attempted at the Armenian state border south-east of Chinari village.

Unites of the RA Armed Forces neutralized the Azerbaijani troops’ aggressive actions. The enemy was thrown back, giving the victims, including also in the territory of our military positions.

Unfortunately, the Armenian side also suffered losses during the military operations. In the battle for the protection of the RA state border, senior lieutenant Shavarsh Melilikyan and soldiers Edgar Narayan and Erik Abovyan were killed.

The RA Defense Ministry shares the grief of loss and expresses condolences to the victims’ families.

The RA Defense Ministry possesses irrefutable evidence of the fact of infringements of the Armenian border by the Azerbaijani side. The military and political leadership of Azerbaijan bears the whole responsibility for the instigation.
