The new Tax Code was adopted today, 79 votes for, 19 against and no abstentions. Before voting the MPs made statements.
Representative of “Prosperous Armenia” Party Mikael Melkumyan stated that the Party should not participate in voting as they consider it as a direct blow to Small and Medium Enterprises. He added that thեre were a lot of other hindering issues as well.
MP Hrant Bagratyan said that the draft does not meet the requirements of the development of Armenia. He also noted two unconstitutional provisions in the Code: requiring advance payment from persons who do not work, as well as applying taxation upon some religious organizations.
Edmon Marukyan noted that he had submitted proposals on 10 pages; however 90 percents of these proposals were not accepted. He added that the new Tax Code is very dangerous for Armenia’s Economy and shall cause a lot of problems, so he should vote against it.
Khachatur Kokobelyan noted that the Tax Code shall add the burden of tax payers referring their salary. He recommended delaying the process for several days for clarifications. Levon Zurabyan added that the discussion of the Tax Code does not meet the norms of democratic public debates.
However the Draft was put on voting and adopted by the third reading and completely.
