Based on the instruction of the RA Human Rights Defender, the members of Human Rights Defender’s staff visited Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions on 22-25September, 2016.
Unannounced visits were conducted to observe the conditions in the arrest and pre-trial detention centers and criminal punishment exercising centers, as well as to observe the opportunities of human rights application of the individuals kept in detentions, raise the existing problems and suggest solutions to them.
Private conversations were held with the individuals in detention and those in service in military units. Thorough investigations of the relevant documents were performed.
During the visit meetings have been conducted with individuals who had submitted appeals to the RA Human Rights Defender. Several issues were raised and given solutions in the spot.
The issues that required detailed discussion or study are now being finalized. Clarifications stipulated by the issues will be demanded from authorized bodies.
