Corruption is a Direct Threat to the Security of the Soldiers fighting at the Front: NA Deputy

Today, MP Levon Zurabyan touched upon the offshore scandal involving Mihran Poghosyan who had undertaken the post of the Chief Compulsory Enforcement Officer.

He had sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Justice and learned that at the moment the officials, had filed a corresponding resignation letter, investigation is underway, and facts are being examined.

The MP stressed that corruption threatens the national security of our country. “The country’s leadership should feel in such moments that its back is firm in the case of rebuffing the external aggression and to resist external pressures. Corruption, as recent developments have demonstrated, is a direct threat to our national security and to the soldiers fighting at the front. And it should be eradicated, or else the authorities cannot rely on the loyalty of soldiers, defense of the homeland, as well as to improve the problems of the army’s chronically low funding and the economic crisis.”

According to the MP, the problem here is not only Mihran Poghosyan. “Since 2012 we have made numerous inquiries about the corruption transactions, presented the names of many high-ranking officials and abuses committed by them.”

The Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan speaking about Miihran Poghosyan;s case said that materials are being prepared and there is still so much information. Regarding the deputies’ assessment about corruption, she said that no inquiry has been ignored by the Ministry of Justice. “The RA Government is implementing appropriate measures within its jurisdiction. The functions of the legal system should not be paralleled and transposed. The Ministry of Justice has elaborated relevant drafts and they are in the discussion process. I totally agree with the fact that corruption should be eradicated and we must take steps,” the Minister of Justice said.
