Arrested on Suspicion of Theft of Especially Large Amount of Money from the EU Grant

The General Department of particularly important cases of the RA Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case against 3 individuals who have been arrested, on the suspicion of theft of especially large amount of money from the grant funds provided by the European Union Delegation in Armenia.

The preliminary investigation revealed that in the period of 2012-2013, Tigran Sukiasyan, Rubina Ter-Martirosyan and Gevorg Ghazaryan prepared prepared and used false documents in the name of “Martuni Students’ Council” NGO, developed a fake project “Fundamental Rights and Freedom – Guarantee for Future”, and under the pretext of implementing the project activities received a grant from the EU delegation and stole especially large amounts of money from the project funds.

On March 22, 2016 Tigran Sukiasyan, Rubina Ter-Martirosian and Gevorg Ghazaryan were arrested on suspicion of committing the described offence.

The preliminary investigation is in process; comprehensive investigative actions are undertaken for providing objective and full investigation of all circumstances on the case.

Note: Everyone charged with alleged crime offense shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
