The Sitting on the Cadet’s Case was delayed

Today, the trial on the case of 19-year-old Haykaz Barseghyan, the cadet of Vazgen Sargsyan Military Institute of Armenia, would have continued at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Avan and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts.

The sitting began fifteen minutes later. Hovik Arsenyan and Azat Shahbazyan, defenders of the accused, and Arkadi Barseghyan, the father and representative of Haykaz Barseghyan, were not present at the court.

At the next session, the issue of imposing judicial sanctions on lawyers Hovik Arsenyan and Azat Shahbazyan will be discussed, after finding out the reasons for being absent at the sitting.

One of the accused Varazdat Safaryan was not present at the session, either, though he was notified. He was absent at the previous sitting as well. The court did not have any information about the reasons of his absence.

Today, more than twenty witnesses also came to the court. They are servicemen.

The presiding judge David Harutyunyan said that after the previous sitting the court received a message that the relatives of the accused had threatened the relatives of the victim. But Garik Galikyan who is representing the interests of the victim’s successor, announced that he is not aware of that appeal, and said he would ascertain it and express his position towards it.

After hearing the opinions of the sides, the session was delayed by the court’s decision and was scheduled for 10 December.
